3-28-04 Sequoia and i walked
down to the creek today. Weather is beautiful, in the 70's. Took
a few pictures of all the early wildflowers begining to show their
faces. Saw our first snake of the season, but it slithered away
before i could get it's picture.

The creek that we follow to the Falls is unbelivably
beautiful, it just can't be expressed in pictures. The sound of
the rushing water, and the smell of the earth creates an amazing
energy.

We found this guy hiding under a bush in the yard.
His shell was about 10" long and 9" across.
We relocated him back to the woods, thought it would
be best for him and us!
He seemed quite grateful for the help, check out that
smile!!
Yesterday, Sequoia and i went out to check the bird
nest on the shed. However, we didn't find baby birds in the nest
, instead we found this guy trying to make his get away! This
black snake was probably about 4 foot long. We found 2 surviving
baby birds on the ground under the nest and rescued them. After
some poking with a rake, i convinced the snake to leave the nest.
We replaced the babys and watched to make sure mama found them
again, and she did. The snake had several lumps in his belly as
he slithered away, so hopefully he'll leave these last two babys
alone for a while.
